The new game for this week was to play a small 2000pt game from the last last revolt in Italy - Spartacus Vs Cassius - and like real life the last battle was played out. Thus with Spartacus dying on the DVD we had playing in the background (bit weird I know) so too did he make his last charge in our game. I think he killed at least six Romans in close combat before he bled to death after to many wounds. But the armies played are very different from the normal classical ancient game. John found that most of his troops had to be conscripts , where that is not the norm in most Romans armies. And my army had to consist of half trained and half untrained slaves, plus I could only spend 20% on cavalry, which does not give you to many. gladiators are hard to field either you can play them as a body of light troops or spread them around in your units. I chose the later, just to give my untrained boys a little more punch.
The majority of these figures have been painted by Scott Robertson and Leroy Simpson. They consist of figures from 1st Corps, Old Glory and Navigator Miniatures.
All the above figures are from a collection John picked up from the UK. They are a great little army and are all figures from Wargames Foundy's Cesarian Range.

Hello all, sorry about the lateness of the write up, I have been a little slack these last few days. This 2000pt game was played last Wednesday night and as you might of guessed it was between the good old Classical Greeks, from Black Tree Design, and the new Spartan range from Crocodile Games - Wargods of Olympus. These figures are almost straight out of 'The 300' and are very very nice, though a little large compared to the more historical range of figures available. How the game went - well if you have ever played Greeks against Spartan, then might can make a well educated guess that the coalition of Greeks were soundly defeated. Anyway I have already received a few positive comments on this post and thank you all for placing them up. I hope to keep the images flowing from our games as much as possible. So till next week enjoy.

We have decided to start playing our club nights on a Wednesday night. Staring at 8pm makes for a late night, but getting a good game in with good company makes it all worth while. The games we are going to play will be mainly WAB and maybe a small bit of FOW thrown in. With the WAB our games will be restricted to 2000pts, which makes for a great little fun battle played over two/three hours and can be played easily on a 6 x 4 table. So our first game of the season started with the 1st Crusade. John and myself on the Muslim side and Jeff on the Crusader side. It turned out to be a great little a game. Jeff started with a large heavy cavalry force on his right flank, heavy infantry in the centre and crossbowmen and light cavalry on his left flank. We had a very similar set up but with another unit of cavalry on our right. The rest was then history.
